Five years after their first son, the two parents of a couple who celebrate their fifth anniversary together with their son on the first Saturday of every month are celebrating their first birthday together.
The wedding, which took place in a hotel on Sunday, was the culmination of a year of hard work.
The two couples, who work as domestic help, have been living in a three-bedroom house in Kewala, which has a population of about 20,000, for the past four years.
The couple had been working as domestic helpers for five years, earning Rs 40,000 ($8,500) a month and supporting their families financially.
On Sunday, the bride and groom were celebrating their fifth birthday together, a day after the couple married in their home.
“It was an honour to celebrate my fifth birthday in the house of my parents,” said Shri Pankaj Mishra, the wife of the groom.
“We have worked hard for five months to get here.
We have worked very hard to make this wedding happen.”
For the wedding, the couple used a mobile camera to take selfies and post the photos on social media.
The wedding took place at the home of a neighbour, which was set up for couples with children and for those who wanted to get married in private.
The groom, who is from a village in Pune, had gone there to set up a hotel and for his wife to take pictures with the guests.
The bride was in her first year of her PhD, while the groom was a graduate in journalism.
“I have been thinking of my family for the last five years.
I was just thinking about our children, my wife, my mother-in-law and my sister-in law.
I have no regrets.
The only thing I regret is not being able to take a picture of my wife,” said Mishra.
